Les has paintings and drawings in private collections in Germany, USA and Australia, While is work is on view in public and the galleries of his home town Greymouth, New Zealand. Les is a well known figure among Greymouth residents, as he works around town, be it restoring a Miners Hall in Runanga, or painting a mural on the Greymouth Evening Star building depicting News headlines across the centuries, such as "Greymouth becomes a borough Oct 1 1868", or "Radio comes to the coast Feb 3rd 1931"

Gaining qualifications in Jade and Hards Stone Carving from Tai Poutini Polytech, which won him the prestigious Ken Dalzell and George Henry Awards. les's work has recieved reconition winning the highly commended Montana award in 1979 and the Regional Telecom Arts Award in 1999 for work seen nation wide, on the cover of thier telephone directory.
